I recently had the joy of speaking at White Plains Hospital’s Young Women’s Program for Cancer Care, where I joined a beautiful group of young breast cancer patients and compassionate medical professionals. Together, we explored how to navigate the physical and emotional changes that come with chemotherapy and hair loss—what to expect, how to prepare, and the small steps that can make a big impact. We talked about managing chemotherapy side effects during hair loss, using fashion and self-expression to feel like yourself again, and the importance of protecting your scalp in the warmer seasons to support healthy hair regrowth. The room was filled with open, honest, and empowering conversation.
This work is deeply personal to me. When I was going through breast cancer treatment, I didn’t know how to process the changes that came with hair loss—let alone how to care for my scalp before, during, or after it. The empowerment I found through the turbans I designed and the self-care rituals I embraced ultimately inspired me to create StyleEsteem: a brand built to ensure that no one has to walk this path without support, comfort, or style. We also brought along a few of our favorite summer turbans, which guests were able to explore and interact with in person. It was so special to see the joy these pieces sparked—adding their own beauty to the room and giving a glimpse of confidence and comfort to those present, including a few soon-to-release designs we're excited to share soon. A heartfelt thank you to White Plains Hospital for the invitation—it was an honor to share space, wisdom, and strength with such an inspiring community.
